Pennsylvania's Natural Environment

As part of the Commonwealth’s 2005-06 State Budget, the Growing Greener II program was passed into law.  I was proud to have voted in favor of this measure that protects our cherished natural environment. 

In 2004, voters approved $625 million in bonds to preserve and protect our natural resources and rich environment throughout the Commonwealth.  The bond proceeds have been distributed to six state agencies that specifically target proactive policies and initiatives geared toward enhancing Pennsylvania’s natural environment.  $20 million will be distributed to the Hazardous Sites Clean-Up fund in 2005-06 as well as another $30 million in 2006-07. 

We need to keep protecting our natural resources and environment, and I will continue to work hard in the future to make sure our land, air and water are safe and clean for our citizens.
